SWEETMAN does it again

Usual excellent detail from Bill Sweetman. Having been involved in the fly off from the Navy perspective I was last little disappointed that there was not more detail of the work done at Pax River. It would be really interesting if someone would do a history of this program from the perspective of the government folks watching the fly off of both aircraft. The stories that could be told...

Good resources for how we got here in the JSF. A few editor type errors and a little dry at the beginning. A lot of acronyms that made it difficult to read on Kindle. Overall worth the read.

A disappointment

This is more of a coffee table book. There is very little excitement when reading through the book. The book is even less exciting than the BBC documentary of the same account of Boeing and Lockheed competing for the winning design. Most of all, you don't sense the human factor, the human drama in this book. Contrast this book with the Skunk Work book by Ben Rich and you can see the difference. Again, this is just a coffee table book that you look flip once in a while and not a book like Mr. Rich's that you go back to for inspirational ideas.

He has done a wide array of IT and telephony consulting for many different companies along the eastern portion of the United States. A former Senior Architect and Senior Presales Engineer for two Cisco Gold Partners in the Southern Virginia area, Alex is now the principal owner of Hannah Technologies LLC, an IT consulting and training firm based in Midlothian, Virginia. Alex has implemented advanced IP telephony and video installations in his area for more than 12 years. When he is not working, he can be found on a boat, wakeboarding with friends and family. VCS Chapters Not Sufficient

Cisco decided to retire the CCNP Voice certification and offer a whole new NP Collaboration certification, now incorporating video/telepresence before the end of 2015. There currently are no other alternative study guides for the 300-075. As this is a new curriculum, we had to wait a few months for this publication to be even be released.

This book covers the advanced Communications Manager settings and features quite well. The chapters are arranged so you can get through one in an evening and understand what you have just read. As someone mentioned, the NOTE boxes were very helpful. The book includes three chapters introducing and explaining VCS and CUCM integration. My biggest gripe is that the video chapters were light in technical detail. I would highly suggest reviewing the SRND and VSC guides listed in the references to prepare you for the 300-075 exam. The book alone will not be enough.

Foundation Learning Guide not a Self Stufy Guide

Dont expect it to prepare you for the exam as it will not. Its not badly written but it is a small book that could have been half the size if the duplicated content is removed.

So why no good for exam prep? The key is in the title and I missed the subtlies of that. this is a FOUNDATION LEARNING GUIDE not a SELF STUDY GUIDE and after talking to Cisco Press at Cisco Live this year I learnt that this is not really meant to get you through an exam but to give you an understanding of the topics covered in it

If you are planning on taking the CIPTV2 exam my advice would be ditch the book and read the SRNDs. I know that sounds like a very dull way to spend you free time but it would be more useful than reading this book

Big Book with a ton of tips...

I am not an accountant. Just thinking about the bookkeeping associated with profit planning and cost cutting intimidates me. The Food Service Manager's Guide To Cost directed me to accounting software and tools such as Tasty Profits and the National Restaurant Association's Chart of Accounts to keep my books in order. I thought Point of Sale systems were items of convenience and style. The book showed me that POS systems monitor inventory, staff performance and schedules, and even reports possible theft. Tricks of the Trade, testimonials from established restaurateurs, give a wealth of insight. The book reveals thousands of cost cutting secrets such as using a celebrated chef to design your menu, but not actually cook it. There are also must-see tips for decreasing profit-loss of theft and an inefficient staff. The book is humongous and every page of it is filled with applicable tips to improve your bottom line without sacrificing quality.

About the Author

Edward H. Judge and John W. Langdon are professors of history at Le Moyne College, where they have team-taught for the last 20 years a two-semester world history course for first-year students as well as courses on modern global history for upper-level students. Judge earned his doctorate at the University of Michigan and spent a year in the USSR as an IREX scholar. He has taught at Le Moyne since 1978, was the college's scholar of the year in 1994 and was awarded the J. C. Georg Endowed Professorship in 1997. Langdon earned his doctorate at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Public Affairs, where he was a national defense fellow. He has taught at Le Moyne since 1971, directed its honors program and was awarded the O'Connell Distinguished Teaching Professorship in 1996. Each has been named the college's teacher of the year and has chaired its department of history. They have written or edited eight books: three in collaboration with each other, three as individuals and two in collaboration with other scholars. They love teaching world history, especially to students of diverse backgrounds and interests, and they derive great joy from infecting their students with a passion and enthusiasm for the study of the human past.

Needed for school

I needed this book for school but didn't want to pay school price so I went to amazon and found this! What I didn't like about the book itself is that some of the information is confusing because some of the details are so subtle. You really have to read between the lines. I still recommend buying this book if you need it for class though. Even though the shipping is fast I don't recommend buying it at the last minute.

Honestly, I did not care for this textbook. I felt as though they jumped around too much. I am used to having key words with definitions on the side. It did read as more of a "book" which was nice. But i missed the traditional things an actual textbook brings.

Best textbook ever!

Not only is this the first textbook I read cover to cover, but this is the first one I actually enjoyed reading. And the Kindle Version was great. Having the ability to search text is amazing.
